  • Do I still need to have check-ups when I wear dentures?

Yes, a regular yearly check-up is advisable to avoid any unforeseen problems and to check the underlying tissues supporting the denture for signs of infection or sore spots. During this annual check-up this clinic also screens for abnormalities in oral tissue e.g. tissue changes that could be oral cancer.

  • Do I need a referral?

No, we welcome new patients without a dentist’s referral.

We work with many dental offices in Brantford, Paris and surrounding areas to optimize patient focused care. We can coordinate treatment with your existing dentist. We have had referrals from as far away as Barrie, Whitby, London and Niagara Falls from dental practitioners seeking optimal results for their patients.

  • Do you fabricate dentures for dental offices?

No, your denture made by your dentist was not made in our private in-house denture laboratory. I am asked this question often and unless Cliff or I have taken the impression and you have had several fitting appointments here, your denture was not fabricated by this clinic.

There is no commercial dental laboratory located in Brantford or Paris. The closest ones are Woodstock and Hamilton.

  • How will dentures affect the way I eat?

Eating with dentures for the first time will require patience but with time you will be able to bite and chew more naturally. Nancy and Cliff will provide tips to help you adjust.

  • How do you set your fees?

Our fees follow the current Denturist Association of Ontario’s fee guide. These fees are set by the Board of Directors and the procedure codes are set forth by the national association.

  • What is the best way to clean my dentures?

It’s important to clean your dentures daily. Daily cleaning with a non-abrasive cleaner and a soft bristled brush will help to minimize the build up of plaque and stains on your dentures. Abrasives in toothpaste can cause microscopic scratches that allow bacteria and stains to attach to the denture more readily.

After removing your dentures, cleaning your tongue, oral tissues and any remaining natural teeth and/or dental implants is very important as well.

You can also use an extremely effective denture cleaner, such as Nova-Dent to soak your denture a minimum of once daily for 15 minutes. Daily soaking with mechanical brushing to remove plaque and food may prevent stains and halitosis (bad breath) from forming.
